Tis the Season For Potholes!

Tis the Season For Potholes!

Potholes seem to be an endless problem for everyone. Potholes form quicker in low temperatures, as water from rain or melting snow freezes to form ice. This puts great stress on an already cracked road. If a pothole fills with water the growth may be accelerated, as the water 'washes away' loose particles of road surface when vehicles pass. In temperate climates, potholes tend to form most often during spring months when the pavement is weak due to high moisture content. Potholes can make traveling rough for more than just cars: skateboarding, riding a bike, or walking a dog can be hazardous when potholes are present.

How do you feel about the pothole on campus, to the left of the stop sign exiting the east parking lot?

  1. Great content about the potholes and the link to the WSBT site so you can voice your opinion. I would have to guess that your material was more forcused on a higher grade (maybe 4th or 5th). I've been to Mt Saint Helens and it was really neat to see and feel the 'lava rock'. It was very very light.

  2. Thank you for your comment! Yes, material is focused on 5th grade educational level. Mt. Saint Helen must have been very interesting experience for you! I have not had the pleasure of viewing igneous rocks in their natural state but hope to in my future.

  3. This is very interesting. I think you focused on a fourth or fifth grade level, which is interesting for them to know the awareness of future driving. I also think that the link was interesting. Mt. Saint Helen must of look amazing. You did a great job!!
